Today is filled with some mixed emotions. I have always been a true believer that with answers I can move forward. An answer came today I have Stage 3 Kidney Failure. I say this with some level of relief though now I can move forward. I am now waiting for a referral to a nephrologist. I am now prepared though. I am willing to continue with the lifestyle and dietary changes to best help slow down the process of kidney disease. Am I scared yes because I have never really dealt with kidney disease before.
My philosophy today though is to pick up the pieces and look after you. Any direction that can be given on Chronic Kidney Disease is appreciated, I am a fighter and I have a huge support system.

That’s good to have a diagnosis so you can deal with the problem.
One thing the nephrologist will be monitoring you for is anemia. It seems like it should be unrelated, but the kidneys produce a hormone called erythropoetin (epo for short) that tells the bone marrow to make new red blood cells. Unhappy kidneys can sometimes mean not enough epo and low red cell counts. The anemia would show up on routine bloodwork, but if you’re feeling fatigued, it’s worth speaking up about.
