When I first got diagnosed with chronic kidney disease my first thought was change everything. I got myself a nutritionist that has been with me through this whole journey. One thing the nutritionist taught me in the beginning was make the changes slowly as if I can to much at once the changes won’t last. Treat this as a lifestyle change not a diet.
For the most part I did a combination of vegan and Mediterranean. The nutritionist had me using plant based supplements and smoothie powder. This fit real well into my lifestyle. Things have gotten worse with my kidney. I am really glad to have the nutritionist walking this path with me though so that we can keep on top of the food I am eating.
If you are wanting to change some things in your life do it as a lifestyle change not a diet. For me I find that lifestyle changes stick. Also don’t worry about limiting yourself food wise. I have found that I have become a lot more creative in cooking. The options are endless.

I agree, the lifestyle change approach definitely works better than framing it as dieting.
