This is definitely something that I am asking what is the difference between Rescuing and Supporting someone. So I looked up both of these definitions.
Rescue- To cause to be free from danger.
Supporting- providing support, especially moral or emotional support.
Even with looking up these definitions I am still confused. One thing that is standing out to me though is there is a fine line between the two. I guess if I am rescuing someone I am doing all of the work and getting them out of a problem or solving the problem. If I am being supportive I am there to listen but they are needing to do the work instead of me.
I am starting to realise that for a long time people rescued me, so I was comfortable rescuing others. The best and healthiest relationship for me and those in my life is one of supporting each other not rescuing.

I also think that it’s who’s doing the work that makes the difference. I think supporting can even be both people doing the work, but rescuing seems like it’s passive on the part of the person being helped.
