SPRING AND SUMMER FOODS

Switching my foods from winter to the brighter colors is my favorite time of the year. In the summer I love to plant my garden and put as many fresh vegetables that I can. I don’t eat red meat or pork products so veggies are very important. Also this time of the year out come all of fresh fruit that I love.

A couple of tricks I am developing when it comes to shopping as food can be so expensive.

  • Because the food can go bad so quickly I find hard to shop for a week at a time. If I run out of certain items I will do a quick stop at the store.
  • What meat and fish we do use in the house we buy in bulk and package ourselves.
  • We do take advantage of the farmer’s markets.

These tips I find useful for my husband and I as there is only him and I in the house. You can adapt for larger families.

  • Out comes the salad’s, stir-fries, flatbreads, there are so many options.
  • One thing I am investigating is food that will fill me up more. Cherries, Strawberries, Apples with skin, Blueberries, Banana, Cranberries, Blackberries, Raspberries, Dates, Avocado. All of the kinds of food that are available this time of the year.

Also this time of the out come the running shoes. My husband and I for the first time a 5km charity walk for the local hospital.
