The other day I was going through my pantry and went wow. Should some of this be kept in the fridge instead of the pantry. So I did some research and here is what I found.
In order to keep these products as fresh as possible especially if you buy them in bulk these should be kept in the fridge or the freezer.
- Nuts and seeds: Keep the nuts and seeds in the freezer. It will help with freshness.
- Maple Sugar: The pure stuff not the sugar packed one. Keep it in the fridge.
- Cold- pressed oils: Keep that in the fridge.
- Infused olive oil: Garlic infused oil can be kept for 7 days as long as it is kept in the fridge. If you portion it and freeze it thaw in the fridge
- Cured Meats: Sealed cured meats once opened need to be stored in the fridge sealed with plastic way to keep away from air.
- Fish Sauce: This should be kept in the fridge
- Mustard: Once open keep in the fridge
- Peanut Butter: keep in the fridge
- Bread: Keep in the freezer. Thaw in the fridge or put directly in the toaster from the freezer
- Chocolate: Store blocks of chocolate in airtight containers in the fridge or the freezer. It should not b e exposed to air. If you have stored it in the freezer thaw in the fridge
- Chocolate Chip cookies: You can store these in the freezer for snacking

I keep mustard in the fridge, but my mom never did, and it didn’t hurt us. I know the “natural” peanut butter without preservatives is supposed to be kept in the fridge, but I like to eat it out of the jar with a spoon, and I prefer at room temperature, so I don’t refrigerate it. I go through it quickly enough that it’s fine, though.
